Mr. Buren O. Mock, Sr. of Colquitt died Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Barwick and Ashley Mock officiating. A family only interment with military honors will follow at Primitive Union Cemetery with Ashley Mock, Ty Bailey, Jack Mathis, Jason Christian, Mac Bailey, and Dillon Hall serving as pall bearers. Visitation will be Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. Mock was a member of Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member of the Alma McDonald Sunday School Class. He served in the US Army during WWII and was the oldest living WWII Veteran in Miller and Seminole County. He was a member of Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion, the William M. Wilson VFW Post #6046, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Walter C. Dancer Lodge #115.
He is survived by one son, Bud (Jo) Mock of Colquitt, GA; one daughter, Janet Hicks of Colquitt, GA; five grandchildren, Shane Mathis, Rachel Bailey, Phoebe (Jason) Christian, Ashley (Valarie) Mock, and Ty Bailey; eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Dukes of MN; and special friend, Brenda Joiner. Mr. Mock was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo M. Mock; three daughters, Gail Mock, Rebecca Mock, and Rita Mock; one granddaughter, Lesley Mock; his parents, Lonnie Audley and Lucy Sheffield Mock; two brothers and six sisters.
