Mrs Carol Watson of Donalsonville formerly of Baker county died Friday, March 29, 2024 at Great Grans in Donalsonville.
A Graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Amberwood Sanctuary in Baker County .Dolores (Carol) Watson, 81, of Baker county, Georgia passed away on March 29, 2024 . She was born on December 20,1942 in Glen Burnie, Maryland to parents Harry C. knight and Mary Esther Miragliuolo. She was married to William T. Watson of Lithia Springs,Georgia until his passing in 2004. She wrote and published the only newspaper for Baker county that she strived to give the people of that area current news and vital information that would be advantageous to voters and consumers as well as informing residents of weather conditions and articles that could improve their health and wellness. She was also the founder/owner of Amberwood Sanctuary in Leary, Georgia which began in 1981 after her and her daughter, Michele, went to Bakersfield, California to pick up 6 donkeys through a governmental program with the Bureau of land management which allowed her to make her dream of rescuing many unwanted and abused animals a reality. Amberwood is in need of a permanent caretaker and is temporarily closed until further notice. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Michele Watson-Gasaway, her son-in-law Charles Ray Gasaway, both living in Griffin, Georgia and her cousin, Robert Miragliuolo who resides in Keeling, Virginia.
