Dr. Ralph Boyd Phillips, Jr. gained his angel wings on Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Baker, Miller, and Early Counties. He graduated with the Miller County High School Class of 1966, then obtained his bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Middle Georgia College. He attended the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, IL, where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He
received special certifications in radiology, physical therapy, nutrition, and biology. He practiced in Albany and Blakely, Georgia. After 50 years of treating patients in the tristate area, he retired in 2022.
During his life, he enjoyed hunting, UGA football, attending church, and listening to live music. He was a member and officer of Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church. After that church closed, he visited various primitive Baptist churches in Georgia and Alabama. He volunteered as part of the Swamp Gravy Production Crew for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Phillips and Verna Taylor Phillips. He is survived by his life-long friend, Charlotte Faircloth Phillips, his 3 children, Meda (Kevin) White of Birmingham, AL, Malia (Ryan) Phillips-Lee of Colquitt, GA, and Misty (Jeremy) Strickland of Dothan, AL, and his grandson, Shiloh Monk, and step-grandchildren, Sydney Lee, Lauren Stansell Edwards, and Kyle Stansell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Billy Kimbrel and Elder Clayton Nowell officiating. A private family burial will be held at Salem Seminole Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Colquitt United Methodist Church Food Bank or a local food bank near you.
The family will be receiving visitors at the home of Ryan and Malia Phillips-Lee.
