    Mrs. Emma Lou Smith of Colquitt, GA died on Friday, March 24, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Colquitt First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Cooper and Rev. Mark Worsley officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Nicholas Whitaker, Zac Whitaker, Ryan Varnum, Michael Varnum, Drew Varnum, and Corey Gibson serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Whitaker and Josh Whitaker. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home.
   
Mrs. Smith was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday School Class there. Mrs. Smith was an avid quilter in Swamp Gravy for many years. She was also an avid gardener, and volunteered at the AGAPE store until she was 99 years old. Mrs. Smith loved to fish.
 
    She is survived by four children, Betty Lou (Carroll) Varnum of Edison, GA, Virginia (Larry) Whitaker of Colquitt, GA, Pauline Huggins of Albany, GA, and Arvis (Stephanie) Smith of Colquitt, GA; nine grandchildren, Wesley (Jackie) Whitaker, Andy Whitaker, Brent (Beth) Whitaker, Charles (Denise) Varnum, Mike (Alicia) Varnum, Rhonda (Raymond) Gibson, Kelley (J.C.) Crater, Mallory (G.J.) Widner, and Alaina (Tyler) Clay; seven siblings, Lawrence Paramore of Sylvester, GA, Betty Ruth Fain of Ozark, AL, Wilfard Paramore of Sylvester, GA, Claude Paramore of Sylvester, GA, Charles Paramore of Sylvester, GA, Mary Casterline of Tallahassee, FL, and Donald (Kathy) Paramore of Albany, GA; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Arvis L.C. Smith, Sr.; parents, S.O. Paramore and Eunice Trotter; one grandson, Bruce Varnum; one son-in-law, Eddie Huggins; and six siblings, James Paramore, Fred Paramore, Ruby Smith, Roxie Keller, Bessie Goolsby, and Billy Paramore.
