Leona Miller Gowan

     Mrs. Leona Miller Gowan, formerly of Donalsonville, GA, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Riverview Health Center in Homerville, GA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kent Barwick officiating. Interment will follow at Thompson Cemetery with Mitchell Gowan, Mike Newsome, Thad Richardson, Matt Woods, Myron Woods, Little Phil Harden, and Eric Gibson serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Colquitt Funeral Home.

     Mrs. Gowan was a nurse at the former Merritt Clinic in Colquitt, and a member of Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church.

     She is survived by two sons, Joe Steve Gowan of Donalsonville, GA, and Jerry (Wanda) Miller of Colquitt, GA; one daughter, Donna (Ricky) Houston of Colquitt, GA; four grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Gibson, Michael (Erika) Houston, Mitchell (Tiffany) Gowan, and Michelle (Derek) Starling; ten great-grandchildren; Tyler Gibson, Ella Gibson, Liam Houston, Harle Houston, Brinson Gowan, Liam Gowan, Jordan Rios, Elizabeth Green, Jackson Starling, and Michael Starling; seven great-great grandchildren; one brother, Willie (MaryBeth) Miller of Waycross, GA; and two sisters, Louise Newsome and Teresa Vann, both of Colquitt, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton "Buck" Gowan; two brothers, Edward Miller, and JR. Miller; one sister, Rosie Bush; and parents, Henry and Rachel Jordan Miller.
