Lillian Lane Gibson passed away June 28, 2023. Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Mothers Home Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Whittaker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to11:00 AM at Mothers Home Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gibson was an educated country girl who returned from Berry College to teach Business ED in Miller County, and had no intention of marrying a farmer. On Christmas Day 1949, she married Arnold Gibson, who later became a farmer; and she, a willing and supportive farmer's wife. One of her great pleasures was to be hailed by a former student who thanked her for making it possible for him/her to make a living using the typing or shorthand and General Business skills she had taught. Lillian made sure to get as many students as possible to attend with her the annual meeting of Future Business Leaders of American in Atlanta, knowing that this was the first time many of the students had been out of Miller County.
She was preceded in death by Arnold; her parents, Willie and Gertrude Lane; and siblings, Winston Lane, Lester Lane, Linnie Gibson, and Peggy Swanner. She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Christine Daniel; and children, Cathy, Ken (Rose), and Ted (Marilyn); grandchildren, Erin, Alison, Brian, Patrick, and Hannah; and ten great-grandchildren. Her last years were happily spent at Great Gran's Personal Care Home and Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.
