Mrs. Melody Chaplin Durden of Colquitt, GA died on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at her residence. She will be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Lake Talquin in Tallahassee, FL.

Mrs. Durden retired from the Leon County School Board as the Chief Accountant for payroll analysis. She was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Tina (Tony) Nix of Colquitt, GA, Dede (Chris) Joyner of Tallahassee, FL, and Michelle (Stevie) Smith of Crawfordville, FL; one step-son, Bill (Sherri) Durden of Locust Grove, GA; six grandchildren, Cindy Thomas, Ean Thomas, Lee Nix, Tyler Smith, Maria Joyner, and Katie Durden; five great-grandchildren, Aiden Thomas, Bristol Thomas, Emmy Thomas, Isley Nix, and Isaac Nix; one brother, Robin Chaplin of Albany, GA; and one step-brother, Bobby Gibbs of Monticello, FL. Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband, David Thomas Lee Durden; one brother, Charles Chaplin, and her parents, WH and Marion Wilds Chaplin.
